(Dr.) Luisa Watts, 88th Diagnostics and Therapeutic Squadron pathologist, examines a skin excision with basal cell carcinoma for intraoperative consultation (i.e. frozen section) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center, June 26, 2017. Ultimately, the tissue will be placed onto a glass slide for microscopic examination whereby Dr. Watts will make an intraoperative diagnosis that will determine what type of surgery the patient receives.
