Two of three Bells of Balangiga are displayed. F.E.

description

Summary

Two of three Bells of Balangiga are displayed. F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, where U.S. Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Philippines Ambassador Jose Manuel G. Romualdez visited Nov. 14, 2018 to start an effort to return the bells to the Philippines. The bells were taken as a war trophy by U.S. troops after 48 American soldiers were massacred in 1901 during the U.S. occupation of the Phillipines. The bells were used to signal the start of the attack, staged while the soldiers were eating breakfast and their weapons were stored in a tent away from the dining area.
