The home of Dr. John S. Whiting - Charleston, Boston Mass.
Summary
The home of Dr. John S. Whiting. Built originally as a blacksmith shop back of the wooden residence of the blacksmith, Deacon Amos Tufts (prominent in the First Church) about 1800. The widening of Bow Street took the Tufts house, and the brick building was altered into a pleasant residence facing the beginning of Bow (now Devens) Street. (See Sawyer pp. 165&6)
