Just below the gut widened intoa large pouch-like dilatation holding ap-proximately four ounces. Anteriorly to thegastro-enterostomy opening (as noted in thelateral position) and extending along thegreater curvature for several inches the gas-tric wall assumed a moth-eaten appearance. Six-hour examination showed a slightresidue of about an ounce in the stomachand the remaining portion of the meal in theterminal ileum and ascending colon. Twen-ty-four-hour examination showed the stom-ach and small intestines empty. A slightamount of the meal had been evacuated andthe remainder filled the colon. The hepaticflexure lay in a normal position but wasfixed by adhesions. The transverse colonpassed, transversely, across the abdomenfrom just above the crest of the
