Thomas Goff Lupton was indeed an English mezzotint engraver and artist, born in 1791 and passing away in 1873. He was known for his work in the medium of mezzotint engraving, a technique used for creating tonal images through the manipulation of light and dark areas. Lupton's works often depicted landscapes, portraits, and other subjects typical of the period. Mezzotint engraving was particularly popular in the 18th and 19th centuries for its ability to produce rich, velvety tones, making it well-suited for reproducing paintings and other artworks.
