German original, Coblenz, 1839-1841, published under title: "Reise in das innere Nord-America ..." The present edition is a reprint of the London edition of 1843, translated by H. Evans Lloyd, with the addition of the Indian vocabularies now first translated from the German edition by Asa C. Tilton.

Includes facsimile of t.-p. of 1843 London edition with title: Travels in the interior of North America ...To accompany the original series of eighty-one elaborately-coloured plates.

The plates of the atlas are from sketches made by Karl Bodmer.
