First, the situation of the black race - its morality, its faults, the issue of African American emigration, with an especially interesting essay on why American blacks are not Negroes. Second, a short speech on Nat Turner's insurrection. Third, the evils of contemporary society, including problems in the South, lack of educational opportunity, intemperance, etc.
