description

Summary

Zoology (mammals): Phloeomys pallidus. Mislabelled as Phloeomys cumingi in the original work from 1852. True P. cumingi are dark brown to reddish-brown, but this was the only Phloeomys species recognized at that time (i.e. all specimens were labelled as this species, regardless of colour). P. pallidus, which varies from all whitish to mottled whitish-and-black, was only recognized in 1890.
