The peritoneal cavity has been openedin front and behind the cervix and the uterus has been brought down and inverted by meansof traction with the cats-paw retractor (c). tissue to slip out of their grasp. The broad ligament is then cut along theseforceps and a second pair of the same kind is applied to the remaining portionof the lateral pedicle containing the remainder of the broad ligament, togetherwith the uterine artery. The remainder of the pedicle is then severed and theuterus is attached now only upon one side. The clamp forceps have been removed from theright Droad ligament (b) and the ligature has been tied.
