The treatment was given at first in thelying position only, later also in the upright position andwith the use of a cane. To obtain the last 25 to 30 degrees of motion which oftenrequire a comparatively long time, the following cane exer-cises are recommended besides those described in ChapterIV, pages 4G-48: 1. The operator stands behind the patient who holds thecane on his back with the arms straightened out.
