Inhospitals, especially, these parts should be easily sterilisable. The tubestand should also have a holder for the pastille. Dr. Gauss of Freiburg has introduced a stand (Fig. 197) designed fortubes which are to be used with a very heavy current. It is so arranged thatthe distance of the tube from the surface of the body can readily be regulatedand measured. In addition to this it has a number of good mechanicalmovements, which render its use a great acquisition to the operator. Thetube box is protected by thick lead glass and lead rubber. This is necessaryon account of the very hard tubes required for the treatment of deep-seatedorgans.
