Technique for Lateral View of the Skull.—The patient may either sit upin a chair or lie on the couch ; the latter position is the more comfortable,and it is easier to immobilise both patient and plate. The central ray should pass through the head in a transverse plane ;the plate should be at right angles to the central ray and parallel with thesagittal plane of the head. The tube holder is arranged so that the centralray passes through at a point 1 inch above and 1 inch in front of the externalauditory meatus.
